At Grief Practice Institute we recognise that grief is not a problem to be fixed

It is a natural, complex, and deeply human experience that deserves informed, compassionate, and competent support

🧰 Empowerment

Grounded in research, lived experience,

and practical relevance

🤝 Presence

Prioritising the relational

🌱 Growth

Professional development that encourages reflection,
evolution, and impact

Founded by an experienced specialist bereavement practitioner and mental health social worker, Grief Practice Institute exists to bridge the gap between caring intention and confident, effective grief-informed practice.

We know that many therapists, counsellors, and healthcare professionals feel underprepared when it comes to supporting grieving clients.

Most were never taught how to navigate the complexity of grief in their original training — especially grief that falls outside of neat stages, tidy timelines, or visible losses.

Our mission is to change that

Our approach combines:

  • Contemporary grief theories and models, rooted in current research and real-world complexity

  • Applied practice skills, including assessment, intervention, and treatment planning tools

  • Reflective development, helping practitioners grow in presence, confidence, and ethical care

  • Practical integration, with resources and guidance to apply learning directly into client work

Whether you're a mental health therapist, counsellor, or

healthcare professional:

We’re here to help you become a more grief-informed, compassionate, and effective support for those navigating loss

Because your clients deserve more than outdated models

And you deserve to feel clear, confident, and well-equipped in your work
